VERTICAL GARDENS

Also known as green walls, this landscape technique is becoming more and more widespread in architecture. It grows along with the civil construction and gaining space in homes and businesses.

Diffused by the British Patrick Blanc, who specializes in tropical forest plants, was responsible for popularizing vertical gardens, building green facades, where nature seamlessly integrates with architecture, which turns into unique environments.

They can be easily installed on any wall and the irrigation can be automated. They can reduce noise and pollution, increase thermal comfort, and give the city a beautiful landscape.

It’s super easy to have a vertical garden at home, both indoors and outdoors. They integrate seamlessly into the environment. They can be green panels, or pot mounts, giving life to corridors, walls and environments by the pool.

There are several techniques that can be used to incorporate these green spaces, here are some of them:

1. Coconut Fiber Technique: Being a natural material, it can come into harmony with the plants and become apparent, but it will rot with time, in need to be changed every 2 years outdoors and 5 years indoors. It is necessary to waterproof the wall before placing the panel to avoid moisture.

2. Living Frame Technique: Developed by the landscape artist, Gica Messiara, this technique has a sealed structure which avoids humidity and leaks. Can be irrigated manually or automated. Whatever your choice, there is a drawer at the bottom of the frame that doubles as a reservoir. Choose a wall of your house to receive this beautiful picture alive!

3. Pre-molded Block Technique: Can be installed directly on the wall waterproofing and preferably in the outside area of the house. After placing the concrete block, everything is very simple. Putting mortar as if they were bricks and intercalating with one another. Once the blocks have been installed, you only have to plant them. Beware of the size of the plants!
