5 THINGS YOUR DESIGNER MUST KNOW ABOUT YOUR BEDROOM

The bedroom is where you spend more than a third of your time, so it is necessary that you share with your architect your wish list and priorities so that your room turns exactly the way you dreamed about.

When designing your bedroom, the architect and/or interior designer will focus on some areas prior to the project such as circulation, location of windows for enough light and ventilation, views, and furniture layout. In your first conversation, we must know what you do in the bedroom, beyond the obvious.

1. Wish List: This is where you dream! A wish list is so important to know what’s important to you. It should also include elements of your behavior. You think of cloth curtains, blinds, bedside light, reading armchair, wallpaper, mirrors, colors … all these are necessary details to make the design of your room look the way you always dreamed. You can still look for photos that share your taste, as it is often easier to express yourself by pictures than by words.

2. Priorities: Often, this part is linked almost entirely to your budget, which needs to be decided early for your designer to be aware of. The main reason for this is that in the end everyone has the same vision in the final result.

3. Behavior: What do you do in the bedroom beyond the obvious? Just like your behavior in the living room, behaviors in the bedroom can be varied. Do you share the room with someone? Does your roommate wake up earlier than you? Do you like the dark bedroom to sleep? If you read it before bed, a well lit headboard should be a priority, for example. The bed is the centerpiece of your bedroom, so it is important that it is well positioned. The quality of it must also be taken into account since it will spend much of its time on it. The size of your bed who dictates is the size of your room. Besides sleeping, what other activities do you do in the bedroom? Dresses up? Put makeup on?

4. Existing fixtures and fittings: We all agree that the bed is the guide for us to work the rest of the room. What other furniture or fixtures existing or not, would you like to have in your room? They may include nightstands, lights, dresser, makeup table, shelves, decor, carpets, mirrors…

5. Humor and style: What style of your room? Modern or contemporary? Colorful or Neutral? It may have textures, wallpaper … Remembering that, the bed being the main furniture of the room, bedding should be a dominant feature.

Often the result is better than expected, which helps and a lot to have a great night of sleep.
